As part of the creative residency for Distress flare #6, which will take place in Lisbon from 19 to 23 April, meet Aldara Bizarro, the stage director of the show.<\/p>\n
Aldara Bizarro was born in Maputo in 1965. Bizarro studied dance in Luanda, Lisbon, New York and Berlin. She considers her time at Merce Cunningham Studio<\/em>, Movement Research<\/em> in NYC and later at Tanzfabrik<\/em> (B) as the most memorable and richest phases of her training as a dancer.<\/p>\n In 1990, she started choreographing Me myself and Influ\u00eancias<\/em>, an award-winning piece at CDL’s IV Choreographic Workshop. Since then, her pieces have been presented all over the country. She was a member of the Portuguese dance group Nova Dan\u00e7a<\/em> which took part in Europ\u00e1lia 91.<\/p>\n In Portugal, through the Respira Project<\/em> in 2007, Bizarro pioneered the creation of dance for young people, involving them in shows. The Publico newspaper described Bizarro\u2019s show A Nova Bailarina<\/em> as one of the best pieces of 2011.<\/p>\n Furthermore, as a dance instructor, Bizarro worked at Forum Dan\u00e7a, ESDan\u00e7a, CCB, FCGulbenkian, CCVF \/ A Oficina, Artenrede, and many others.
